Church West Gable Roof Verges and Masonry Works

Work will shortly begin on the west gable roof verges and other exterior areas of the church. In order for this work to be undertaken scaffolding will be erected around various areas of the church including the west (main) entrance.

This work will commence on Monday 20th July 2026, to meet Heath & Safety requirements the Churchyard and Rectory car park will be closed for 3 days to enable the delivery and erection of the scaffolding. During this time the Church will be closed.

Once the scaffolding has been erected some footpaths around the north and west of the Church will be redirected. For everyone’s safety we would ask that everyone follows the redirected paths around the Churchyard. In particular, please ensure that children do not play inside the restricted areas.

We thank you in advance for your assistance in keeping everyone safe.

Please note that these urgent and unplanned repairs are in addition to the ongoing work being undertaken on the stonework and buttresses, for which we started the Restoration Fund. These additional repairs will cost in the region of £10,000; a cost that the Church itself has to fund. This will impact on our reserves at a time of low income. These are necessary repairs and the cost has to be met. Any donations towards the work would be most gratefully accepted and can be made by visiting: www.ewhurstchurch.org/donate

New Priest-in-Charge
We are delighted to announce that after 3 years of vacancy, we have a new Parish Priest. Rev'd Elizabeth Richardson has been appointed as the Priest-in-Charge of Ewhurst and Ellens Green Parish.
Liz says: “We are excited about getting to know the people of Ewhurst and Ellens Green and becoming part of the life of the Parish”. Liz and her husband Doug are expected to join us in October.

Village Noticeboards
For those of us who prefer a more traditional way of hearing about what's happening, we are pleased to say that the village noticeboards have been updated. We will now make sure these noticeboards contain the most up to date information. As a reminder, there are noticeboards: by the Vets, in the Village Car park, in the Lychgate, in the Wilson Room and by the font inside the Church.
